Thank You Everyone!
To all who volunteered in the re-enactment roles, those who sold tickets or worked in any capacity, and especially to the citizens of our community, the Dunkirk Historical Museum offers its gratitude for your support in making the Historic Church Tour a success. *Photos of the tour will soon be posted on the Image Gallery page.
This painting was commissioned by the Historical Society of Dunkirk in 1976 and painted by William Burt. It depicts Dunkirk’s triumphant moment when the New York and Erie Railroad arrived at its terminus at Dunkirk at May 15, 1851, completing the longest railroad line in the nation to that date, 446 miles. It now hangs in City Hall. Then Horatio Brooks is superimposed at the left. He founded the Brooks Locomotive Works in 1869.
